Educating the Whole Child:
Mind, Body and Spirit.
Mission: The mission of the Catholic School Council of St. James the Apostle Catholic School (hereinafter referred to as the (Advisory Council), as established herein, is to promote a Catholic School system with an excellent academic program founded on Christian virtues, directing students towards a conscious choice of living a responsible Catholic life.
Goals: To fulfill their mission, the Council sets forth the following goals for itself:
The Council shall formulate and propose policies in accordance with those of the Ordinance of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, designed to:
A. Educate the students in a school environment which proclaims the Good News of Christ and prepares them to be responsible and active citizens in the Catholic community now and into the Third Christian Millennium.
B. Promote in the students a zeal for the achievement of justice and for the practice of peacemaking through their individual actions and their actions with others.
C. Create in the schools an active faith community permeated with the Gospels message of freedom and love, where the teachers and staff in partnership with families light the way for the students to receive a quality education without regard to gender, economic, ethnic, or racial background.

Walking with Our Salesian Saints
Thank you to everyone who responded to our Mask-Optional Survey. 70% of our families stated in our most recent survey the desire to move to mask-optional. We invite you to read our most recent COVID policy update:
SJS Phase II: Mask-Optional Policy
Effective Easter Monday, April 18, 2022
St. James is still required to follow our 5-Day Quarantine COVID Protocols as stated by the Archdiocese of San Antonio Department of Catholic Schools.
The mask-optional policy will be shared tomorrow morning with the students during Morning Message, but I wanted to give parents the opportunity to share the update with your child(ren) this evening. Please take this weekend to speak to your child about your mask preference. Teachers cannot be responsible for enforcing mask-preferences in a mask-optional setting. Some schools have recommended N95 masks for individuals with health concerns as a greater means of protection in a mask-optional setting. We will continue to clean and sanitize frequently.
Please reach out to me as soon as possible if you have been in close contact, are feeling symptoms, or have tested positive. You are welcome to email me and/or complete our online COVID-19 Reporting Form. I am always here to share our quarantine protocols. I check my email at all hours of the day and night. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
Newly Updated COVID Policy - Phase I
Especially during this season of Lent, we continue to Walk with Our Salesian Saints. The journey has not been easy, and it is not complete. We continue to strive to exhibit patience and understanding as we cautiously attempt to transition to normalcy.
Thank you to everyone who completed our SJS Annual Parent Survey held March 1st-15th, and a special thank you to those who responded to the question about COVID policies. Your input was instrumental in helping us create Phase I of our transition plan. To view results and see details of our Phase I Plan, we invite you to review the below presentation:.
Phase I – Effective Fri., March 25, 2022
It is very important that families DO NOT create duplicate accounts. If they need help they can email Mrs. Farias at [email protected].
We will continue to review and update our plan. This is only Phase I. If you have specific comments, questions, or concerns, then I strongly encourage and invite you to please call or email me. I would love the opportunity to speak to you over the phone. Throughout this 3-year long journey, I have done my best to always make myself available to you, at all times of the day and night. My commitment to you and my love for each of you remains the same. I am here for you! Thank you for your cooperation and support – we are in this together!
Many blessings,
Dr. Grenardo
